preCharge News OKLAHOMA — Gunfire broke out at a Juneteenth celebration Saturday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, killing one person and wounding seven others, according to police and event organizers. No arrests have been made.

The 2025 Tulsa Juneteenth Festival was held in Tulsa’s Greenwood District — historically known as Black Wall Street — now part of the Oklahoma State University campus. The festival included a series of programs throughout the week, with a runway show scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday evening.

Juneteenth, a national holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the U.S., typically includes weeklong events across the country.

At around 11 p.m. Saturday, officers working at the Tulsa festival heard gunfire while the event was still packed with attendees, the Tulsa Police Department said. “Chaos erupted as people began running in multiple directions,” police reported.

A 22-year-old man was killed in the shooting. Seven others were wounded, including a 17-year-old and an elderly woman. All victims were transported to local hospitals. At least one victim, a 24-year-old man, was in critical condition early Sunday.

Neither the deceased nor any injured victims have been publicly named. Police suspect at least two shooters were involved. No arrests have been made, and their intended targets remain unclear.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is now assisting Tulsa police in what is described as “a very active investigation.”

H3: Event Canceled Out of Respect for Victims

The Tulsa Juneteenth Festival organizers released a statement late Saturday night:

“We have been made aware of a shooting that occurred this evening during the Tulsa Juneteenth Festival. Our on-site security and medical teams responded immediately. We remain in close communication with first responders.”

“We are actively cooperating with the Tulsa Police Department and other law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues. Out of respect for those impacted, all programming is currently canceled. Please keep our community in your prayers. We will share updates as more information becomes available.”
