preCharge News SPORTS — It took more than a decade, but the Seattle Seahawks finally got their revenge.

Seattle defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 on Sunday in Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California, capturing the second Super Bowl championship in franchise history and denying New England what would have been a league-leading seventh title.

The victory erased the lingering memory of Super Bowl XLIX, when the Patriots stunned Seattle with Malcolm Butler’s goal-line interception in 2015.

A Defensive Battle From the Opening Kick

Field Goals and Defense Define the Night

In a Super Bowl rematch that quickly turned into a defensive struggle, Seahawks kicker Jason Myers converted five field goals, setting a Super Bowl record.

Quarterback Sam Darnold completed passes for 202 yards and one touchdown, while Kenneth Walker III powered the offense with 135 rushing yards, earning Super Bowl MVP honors — the first running back to win the award since Terrell Davis in 1998.

“We went through a lot of adversity this season, but we came together and we stuck together,” Walker said after the game.

Walker and Darnold Cap Remarkable Journeys

Walker Earns MVP as Darnold Completes Redemption Arc

Darnold, once labeled a draft bust, capped one of the NFL’s most striking redemption stories by hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

Despite throwing 14 interceptions during the regular season, Darnold did not throw a single interception in the playoffs.

“It’s unbelievable… to do it with this team, I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Darnold said, crediting Seattle’s defense and special teams.

Patriots Struggle Against Relentless Seattle Defense

Six Sacks and Turnovers Seal the Outcome

Seattle’s defensive front overwhelmed Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, sacking him six times.

Maye finished with 295 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, including a pick-six. All of New England’s scoring came late, long after the outcome was decided.

Fourth-Quarter Turnovers Break the Game Open

An early fourth-quarter fumble by Maye set up Seattle’s only offensive touchdown, a 16-yard reception by tight end AJ Barner.

Later, cornerback Devon Witherspoon forced another fumble on a blitz, and linebacker Uchenna Nwosu returned it 45 yards for a touchdown, igniting celebrations in Seattle.

Cooper Kupp Finds Vindication

Former Rams Star Delivers on the Biggest Stage

Former Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp, released by the Los Angeles Rams last offseason, led Seattle in receiving with 61 yards on six catches against his former division rival.

A Game Short on Drama, Heavy on Defense

Punts, Pressure, and a Quiet Finish

The two teams combined for 15 punts, and New England never seriously threatened Seattle’s control of the game. The biggest suspense of the night came during Bad Bunny’s halftime show, not on the field.

A New Era in Seattle Coaching

Mike Macdonald Delivers a Title in Year One

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald proved equal to the challenge of replacing longtime leader Pete Carroll, outdueling Patriots coach Mike Vrabel with a dominant defensive game plan.

“We believe in each other, we love each other, and now we’re world champions,” Macdonald said as he lifted the Lombardi Trophy.

From Long Odds to Champions

Seahawks Complete a Remarkable Season

Neither team entered the season viewed as a serious contender. It marked the first Super Bowl since 1989 featuring two teams with preseason odds of 60-to-1 or worse.

Seattle finished the regular season 14-3, clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and powered through the playoffs — routing the 49ers in the divisional round and edging the Rams in the NFC Championship Game.

This time, the ending was very different — and it belonged entirely to Seattle.
