preCharge News ILLINOIS — A crash involving a motorcycle shut down outbound lanes on the Stevenson Expressway early Friday morning. 

The crash took place around 2 a.m. near Damen Avenue and left a motorcyclist with severe injuries.

According to Kris Habermehl, all lanes are closed and shoulders are blocked off. Traffic is being diverted off at the Ashland Avenue/Damen Avenue ramp. 

The first available reentry to the expressway is at California Avenue. Habermehl recommends commuters use Archer or Ogden to avoid backups. 

Illinois State Police have released details on the circumstances surrounding the crash.
