preCharge News MASSACHUSETTS — Video taken by a witness from the Cambridge shooting shows a man firing and waving a gun while walking along Memorial Drive Monday afternoon.

The video, recorded from a nearby apartment building near the intersection of River Street, shows at least one car driving by as the man walks down the middle of the street, apparently yelling while raising the gun over his head and then firing a shot. He is also seen striking a stationary SUV with the weapon.

The man in the video is wearing a beanie, long-sleeve shirt and shorts.

State Police Trooper Reportedly Shot the Suspect

I-Team sources say a Massachusetts State Police trooper shot the suspect in the torso.

Police have not yet identified the suspect, and his condition was not immediately known. Authorities said there were no other reported injuries.

Witnesses told investigators the suspect appeared to be shooting at passing vehicles at random. They also said officers responded quickly and fired multiple shots at the gunman.

Witnesses Describe Panic During the Cambridge Shooting

“I ran through the bushes and fell in here, and ran all the way down the street,” one witness told WBZ-TV.

“I was running for my life,” the witness added, saying she heard at least 15 gunshots.

Gunfire struck multiple vehicles in the area. One driver said he stopped his car and crouched down for cover before the suspect hit his radiator with gunfire. Another witness said a bullet struck the headlight of their vehicle.

Investigators Examining Possible Link to Earlier Boston Incident

Investigators are looking into whether the Cambridge shooting may be connected to an earlier incident in Boston, according to I-Team sources.

Authorities said there is no ongoing danger to the public, but Memorial Drive and surrounding areas were shut down to traffic Monday afternoon as investigators processed the scene.

Police urged residents and commuters to avoid the area while the investigation remains active.
